Nutshell Playhouse, Inc., founded in 2007, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company dedicated to bringing innovative and exciting live theater and music to family audiences, regardless of ability to pay. For this reason, we often perform at venues that are familiar and comfortable, places where a diverse group of community members might typically go—libraries, community centers, and schools.
Over the last 15 years Nutshell has produced and performed original works including The Mighty Mysterious Megapuff, The Musical Hat, Top Bananas! Mambo & Nemonee’s Worldwide Adventure, Pirates!, and Nutshellapalooza. We have been seen throughout the Berkshires in such venues as the Berkshire Athenaeum Barrington Stage Company, the Lichtenstein Center, the Guthrie Center, The Eric Carle Museum, Berkshire South Community Center, and the Clark Art Institute. Our company has appeared on local television and radio, and produced two CD’s of original children’s songs.
